Sonic Youth - “100%”
- Sonic Youth dedicated the album Dirty to the late Joe Cole, a roadie for Black Flag and The Rollins Band and a close friend of Henry Rollins, who was murdered in 1991. The lyrics to 100% pay tribute to Cole and the video reenacts the police finding his body. RIP
- The yellow bass guitar Kim Gordon is playing throughout the video was lent to her by actor Keanu Reeves
- The music video is directed by Spike Jonze, who shot most of the footage while skateboarding behind the two skateboarders in the video. In my opinion, Spike Jonze is a genius and the most talented director of our lifetime. From Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Synecdoche New York to his music videos for The Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, and Kanye West to name a few, his work is undeniably amazing. I cannot wait to see what he’s done with Where the Wild Things Are as soon as I get the chance to get to a theatre
